Position: Fire & Safety Manager
Facility: Bay Correctional Facility
Location: 5400 Bay Line Dr, Panama City, FL 32404
Status: Full Time; Monday – Friday

Position summary: Reports to deputy warden, operations. Responsible for the facility fire and safety program in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.
Essential responsibilities:
1. Manage programs and conduct monthly inspections of all areas of the facility to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, ACA standards, and Environmental Health and Safety Manual requirements.
2. Develops and maintains accurate files and records for the facility relating to all aspects of the agency safety, environmental health, risk management, worker’s compensation, and ACA accreditation program.
3. Prepare evaluative reports; recommend improvements and modifications to resolve problems and deficiencies; and prepare responses to requests for information related to unit operations and activities.
4. Ensure adequate fire protection services are provided and available to the facility.
5. Perform fire inspections and testing of equipment on a frequent scheduled basis at various times or different shifts.
6. Arrange annual inspections by local or state fire officials or other qualified person or entity.
7. Ensure availability of fire hoses or extinguishers at appropriate locations throughout the facility.
8. Establish, manage and monitor safety training programs for facility staff members and offenders on the facility.
9. Develop and maintain a system for review of and compliance with safety and fire prevention standards and training.
10. Assists administration during situations that pose an imminent threat of death or serious injury; assists in implementing appropriate corrective action; and prepares reports and maintains contact with other departments and staff.
11. Monitors the control, use, maintenance, and storage of hazardous materials and chemicals, safety equipment, and devices; and monitors environmental factors, operating procedures, safety procedures, contamination, and pollution.
12. Conduct investigations involving inmate and employee accidents, incidents, near misses, reported hazards, vehicle accidents, fires, lightning and other weather damage and other conditions and situations which could affect the health, safety and welfare of employees and inmates and communicates such information to the warden in a timely manner; make recommendations for prevention when necessary.
13. Monitor the facility grounds to ensure compliance with OSHA rules and regulations, as well as state and local safety laws.
